I'm so very proud of my son. He has been in a special education class for two years now, and has come a very long way. Two years ago he could barely utter just a handful of words. Now at the age of five he is finally starting to talk in full sentences. Today when his sister asked him to do something for he told her... "No, you do it for yourself!" Now, I wasn't too happy about the snippy comment to his sister, but I was happy about the use of a six word sentence. lol!
Along with speech therapy, he also receives help with physical therapy and his occupational health. His hands and fine motor skills are way behind also. He has tremors in his hands when trying to do anything tedious. They are getting better though, and I'm sure over time he'll be a normal kid and be able to do everything all the other kids do.
Over the years I've doubted whether that would ever happen, but today I definitely think it will. Just hearing him say that sentence restored my hope for his future. I have a very bright little boy... he's pretty cute too! lol!
