Tough Choices

My mom went and visited with her old friend Saturday morning. She actually used to be our old neighbor from when I was a little kid. I haven't seen her in years. My mom actually found her on facebook of all places..lol. My mom and facebook is a whole nother blog post all by itself. lol. Anyways, she went and visited with her. Apparently she's doing really well. Has a really nice house, car, goes on vacation and all that. Her only concern was whether or not to put her mom in new jersey senior care. While my mom was saying that I was thinking that that is something I will have to decide one day. Which is a scary thought.

How do you decide when is the right time? I know I will feel extreme guilt over it. I love my mom, she's the only parent I have left, so putting her in the care of others will be hard. I watched my mom do that with my Grandmother and it killed her. I know that my Grandma was taken care of extremely well though. I don't know. It just scares me. The decisions you have to make as you get older and older are way too serious and important. So has anyone had to make this choice? Are you ok with your decision?

I have not had to make this decision, but heard someone talk about how much it would cost to put someone in long term care, and I asked my parents if they had long term care insurance (if that is what it's called) and they said yes, YOU!

We would not be able to pay for it, so they are right, they'd stay with us.
